In order to conquer your yard and give your property curb appeal, you need a lawn mower. But which type of mower do you need? The market is littered with various types of lawn mowers, and it can be hard to make a decision if you don’t know what you’re after. Here’s a brief breakdown of the varieties of mower you can buy.

Push/Walk-Behind Mowers

These mowers are the most basic type of mower, which also makes them the most affordable. Both styles tend to have lower maintenance needs, too.

Push mowers have a cylinder of rotating blades with no bag to collect the cut grass, so you can leave it to compost on the lawn. These mowers don’t have an engine of any kind.

Walk-behind mowers are a little more elaborate, since they have an engine, but they’re about the same size. They can make quicker work of a small yard. You can choose between gas-powered and electric-powered options.

Lawn Tractors

Large and powerful, lawn tractors, also known as riding mowers, are more complex than the former types and they offer you a lot of power and speed to get across a larger yard quickly. Landscapers and property owners with a lot of grass to mow can appreciate the expediency offered by lawn tractors. These mowers are more expensive, but the increased power and efficiency can be worth it for big yards.

Zero-Turn Mowers

Looking for a mower that can give you more manicured results? Zero-turn mowers have a very small turning radius, which means you can line them up easily with the strip of grass you’ve just mown for pristine and even results. This style of mower is not very good for hills or slopes, though.
